Double Eccentric Butterfly Valves SB42 were Used for a Boiler Return Water System in Jakarta, Indonesia
Project Requirements:
The customer requires a flange double eccentric butterfly valve suitable for a relatively high-pressure boiler return water system. The boiler water temperature typically operates at 70℃, with a maximum temperature reaching up to 120℃. The valve must provide excellent sealing performance, including reliable bidirectional sealing under high-pressure and high-temperature conditions, while ensuring a long service life. The supplier is expected to propose a solution that is both technically appropriate and cost-effective for these working conditions.
Seallon`s Solutions:
● Seallon recommends using a ductile iron GGG40 body, which offers superior pressure-bearing capacity for the operating pressure of 2.5 MPa compared to traditional cast iron bodies. To resist corrosion from boiler return water—containing oxygen, minerals, and corrosion inhibitors—we use a CF8M (SS316) stainless steel disc to enhance corrosion resistance. Considering the maximum temperature of 120℃, Viton is selected for the sealing ring material. Viton effectively withstands high-temperature boiler water and exhibits better corrosion resistance than EPDM or NBR seals, also ensuring bidirectional sealing and zero leakage.
● The overall valve body is coated with Fusion Bonded Epoxy (FBE) powder, with a thickness exceeding 300 µm. This coating effectively prevents corrosion from hot water, thereby extending the valve’s service life.
● To reduce the maintenance cost, Seallon also provides client with additional Viton sealing rings, enabling convenient replacement and maintenance after the sealing rings experience aging.
